The playing field at Aloha Stadium is to be renamed after Hawaiian Airlines.
The airline announced Thursday a new sponsorship agreement between Hawaiian and Aloha Sports Properties, the stadium's advertising representative. The agreement includes renaming the field, "Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium," as well as funding for its future upgrades and travel expenses for University of Hawaii athletics.
Hawaiian President and CEO Mark Dunkerley says a high-quality field is important for local athletes and for attracting high-profile events.
The field is undergoing renovations in preparation for the start of the high school and University of Hawaii football seasons.
